Capricorn Group is proud to announce the release of its 2024 Social Value Report, which highlights the Group's ongoing commitment to empowering and supporting communities across Namibia and Botswana. This report precedes the release of the Group's Integrated Annual Report and annual financial results for 2024, which will be released on 12 September 2024.

This year's Social Value Report showcases the Group's unwavering dedication to transparency and accountability in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. For the period ending 30 June 2024, Capricorn Group, including the Capricorn Foundation and its subsidiaries Bank Windhoek, Capricorn Asset Management, Entrepo and Bank Gaborone, have invested N$25,8 million (2023: N$21,7 million) in social responsibility programmes and projects in Namibia and Botswana.

As a leading financial services group operating in Namibia and Botswana, Capricorn Group prides itself on creating value for its communities and bringing about positive change. The Group's Social Value Report reflects its corporate social responsibility (CSR) approach, philosophy, activities and impact during the past financial year, specifically emphasising the 48 projects and programmes supported by the Capricorn Foundation.

The Capricorn Foundation invested N$11.1 million in projects across its five focus areas:

  • Education and Training – N$5.1 million
  • Economic Advancement – N$2.1 million
  • Vulnerability Initiatives – N$2.6 million
  • Health – N$300,000.00 and
  • Sustainability Programmes – N$1 million

"Our Group's CSR vision is to be an inspiring Connector of Positive Change in our communities by creating value in a responsible way that will unlock sustainable opportunities for advancing and improving economic and social conditions. Our communities benefit from the Group's success, which enables us to create and preserve value for all our stakeholders. Therefore, our approach to being a responsible corporate citizen is built into the DNA of all our businesses," said Gerhard Fourie, Capricorn Group Chairperson.

"We are proud of the incredible work of the Capricorn Foundation, which is the main driver of the Group's CSR initiatives and that of the subsidiaries. This year, we increased our CSR contributions, built relationships with long-standing and new partners, and rethought how we will measure our impact in the future," said Marlize Horn, Group Executive: Brand and Corporate Affairs and Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation.

She added, “Throughout the year, our Group achieved great success, and we have dedicated our efforts to establishing new partnerships and strengthening existing stakeholder relationships through meaningful engagement. Our commitment lies with our stakeholders, and we take pride in creating sustainable value through our CSR initiatives, which positively impact people's lives."

The Foundation, now in its fourth year of establishment, has a social footprint that spans across Namibia. Its role as a CSR thought leader in Namibia has been fully cemented and is best reflected in its collaborations and impactful engagements with international, national, and local stakeholders.

During the past financial year, Capricorn Group is particularly proud of the seven Changemaker programme initiatives. The Group believes employee volunteering is an excellent way to support communities, promote a culture of corporate social responsibility and provide employees with meaningful and rewarding experiences.
